Man City injury update: Rodri, Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol latest news and return dates

Manchester City will be without three key players for their game against Burnley on Wednesday.

Pep Guardiola’s side could leapfrog Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table having almost reeled in the Gunners’ nine-point lead.

City beat Mikel Arteta’s side 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday with goals from Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland securing a massive three points.

Their game in hand over the north Londoners is tomorrow at Turf Moor, where they could move to the summit.

With that in mind, here is the latest Man City injury news...

Rodri

2024 Ballon d’Or winner Rodri hobbled off in the 2-1 win over Arsenal at the weekend.

The midfielder appeared to be clutching his groin in pain as he was replaced by Nico Gonzalez at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola revealed on Tuesday that he would be absent for the trip to Turf Moor, with the City boss saying: "I think for tomorrow he will not be ready.

"We'll see in the next games, [in the FA Cup] semi-final against Southampton or in 12, 13 days against Everton.

Potential return date: Saturday, April 25 vs Southampton (N)

Ruben Dias

Centre-back Dias has been sidelined with an ankle injury since the start of the month.

The Portugal international was thought to be closing in on a return to action, but Guardiola revealed on Tuesday that the Burnley fixture would come too soon for the defender.

“He’s still not ready,” Guardiola said of Dias in his pre-match press conference.

The blow of Dias’ absence has been softened by Marc Guehi and Abdukodir Khusanov’s growing partnership at the heart of defence, as well as John Stones’ return from a thigh problem and Nathan Ake’s availability.

Potential return date: Saturday, April 25 vs Southampton (N)

Josko Gvardiol

Croatian centre-half Gvardiol has been out with a broken leg since the turn of the year.

The £100million man fractured his tibia in the draw with Chelsea in early January, with Guardiola saying at the time that his versatile defender would be “out for a long time”.

Long spell out: Josko Gvardiol (PA)

It remains to be seen when he might be able to make a return to action, with time ticking away this term and looking ahead to the upcoming World Cup this summer.

Potential return date: Summer 2026
