Man City injury update: Rodri, Rayan Cherki, and Rayan Ait-Nouri latest news and return dates

Man City received a huge fitness boost this week as Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic were both passed fit to face Burnley.

The former came up with a brace in injury time as City came away with a 5-1 win, while the latter was left on the bench.

Pep Guardiola has had fairly good luck with injuries so far this campaign, but he was once again without Rodri for that match.

The Spanish midfielder is managing his minutes after recovering from an ACL tear, and appears to have suffered another setback ahead of a midweek Champions League trip to Monaco.

Here’s all the latest Man City injury news...

Rodri

Rodri has been in and out of the Man City squad this season after returning from an ACL rupture, and was absent again as Burnley visited the Etihad.

Guardiola gave little away as to the severity of the setback, but said he was unsure if he would be back in time to face Monaco in the Champions League this week.

“I don’t know right now how the pain is in his knee,” he told BBC Sport.

“He said to us that he was not ready to play.”

He had struggled with pain in the knee earlier this month, but passed a late fitness test to play against Arsenal.

Potential return date: October 1, vs Monaco (A)

Rayan Cherki

Rayan Cherki has made a slow start to life in Manchester after suffering a thigh injury after scoring on his Premier League debut.

The Frenchman moved from Lyon for £30m in the summer, but has been limited to just two competitive appearances.

Speaking in late August, Guardiola said: “He’s out for two months. Seven or eight weeks.”

Potential return date: November 1, 2025 vs Bournemouth (H)

Rayan Ait-Nouri

As with his namesake, Rayan Ait-Nouri has been slow off the mark after moving to the Etihad this summer.

He took a knock in the September international break, but Guardiola has kept his cards close to his chest, giving little away as to when he could return.

Potential return date: Unknown

Omar Marmoush

Also a victim of the September international break, Omar Marmoush has been sidelined for several weeks.

He suffered a knee ligament injury while representing Egypt against Burkina Faso.

It is hoped that he will be available for selection in early October.

Guardiola said earlier this month: “A few weeks, I think, before the next international break he will be ready."

Potential return date: October 5, 2025 vs Brentford (A)

Abdukodir Khusanov

The newest arrival in the physio’s room is Abdukodir Khusanov after the Uzbek picked up a mysterious injury.

He was forced off at half-time against Arsenal.

Speaking before facing Huddersfield in the Carabao Cup, Guardiola said: “He will be out for the next three games I think.”

The nature of the injury is not clear.

Potential return date: October 5, 2025 vs Brentford (A)
