Man City injury blow as Sergio Aguero ruled out for 'months' and is a doubt for Liverpool clash

Manchester City have been dealt a major injury blow early in the new season as Sergio Aguero could be missing from action for another two months with a knee injury and is a doubt to face Liverpool in November.

The striker was unable to complete a full 90 minutes following the restart at the end of the last campaign and was unable to take part in the delayed conclusion of the UEFA Champions League after having surgery.

Not only was he unable to take part in City's first game of the new season, he will now miss their fixture against Wolves on Monday and is not expected to fixture any time soon over the next couple of months across league and cup fixtures, according to his manager.

He is now also a doubt for the visit of Liverpool at the Etihad on November 7 as Guardiola's side look to take back the Premier League title.

Pep Guardiola confirmed in his latest press conference that it could be while before Aguero makes his return.

He said: "We knew that the injury was difficult. He's doing the job. I think maybe in one month, two months, he will be ready.

"He has to come back on the pitch and regain the physical condition. Sergio was a long time and Sergio is not a guy who regains the physical condition quick.

"He still did not make one training session with us."

Defender Aymeric Laporte is also currently unavailable after coming back after testing positive for coronavirus according to Sky Sports.

Guardiola said: "Riyad came back three or four days ago. He is training but today (Friday) was the first day that Aymeric Laporte came back to us.

"I think Riyad will be available but Laporte not yet."
