Man City 'in pole position' to sign FC Barcelona's Nelson Semedo and more rumours

Manchester City are reportedly in pole position to sign Barcelona right-back Nelson Semedo this summer.

City have been linked with the Portuguese full-back in recent weeks, potentially in a swap-deal with Joao Cancelo, who has struggled to adapt to the Premier League this season.

Semedo, 26, joined Barca from Benfica in 2017, and has made over 100 appearances for the club.

Now, Sport (via SportWitness) claims that Pep Guardiola loves the Portuguese and is keen to bring him to City this summer. The report claims that everything is pointing towards a move to the Etihad.

However, it’s also claimed that the two clubs are still not close on agreeing a fee, and Cancelo is not mentioned this time, which would suggest a straight fee may be more likely.

Meanwhile, L'Equipe say City are closely following Lyon's Houssem Aouar, where Guardiola 'appreciates him.'

The report says Lyon will be forced to sell their best players this summer after missing out on Champions League qualification for next season, and 21-year-old midfielder Aouar could be available for €50m.

It is suggested that Lyon may be more willing to let Aouar leave after they signed Bruno Guimarães in January for €20m.
