Man City 'identify surprise new name' to replace Vincent Kompany and more transfer gossip

Man City have 'identified' Brazilian centre-back Murilo as the defender they want to replace Vincent Kompany with, according to reports.

City are reportedly on the hunt for a new centre-back this summer following the departure of captain Kompany after 11 remarkable years at the Etihad.

The Belgian was pivotal in the run-in of City's historic treble-winning season by starting all of the final five games and scoring a wonder goal which all but clinched the Premier League title against Leicester City.

Kompany departed on a free transfer to become the player/manager of his boyhood club Anderlecht and leaves a massive gap in the City squad.

As a result Pep Guardiola is said to be looking for a replacement and has been heavily linked with Harry Maguire, as well as Ajax's Matthijs de Ligt and Roma's Kostas Manolas.

However, TeamTalk report that City have 'identified a surprise name' in Murilo 'as the man they want to replace Kompany at the heart of their defence'.

The 22-year-old plays for Brazilian side Cruzeiro and is reportedly also earning interest from Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Monaco.

However, it's claimed that City are 'front of the queue' and that he would cost £15m.

Meanwhile, young City striker Noah Ohio has ‘agreed a deal’ with Bundesliga side Red Bull Leipzig, according to  Football Insider.

The 16-year-old Dutchman is highly rated and has reportedly turn down a three-year contract offer at City to move to Germany.

It's claimed that a 'number of clubs from abroad have expressed an interest' in Ohio but Leipzig 'moved quickly to agree terms.'

He would follow in the footsteps of Rabbi Matondo who joined Schalke last season and Jadon Sancho who swapped City for Borussia Dortmund and has since become an international success.
