Man City hope for European ban decision by early summer as Everton await ruling

Manchester City hope for a resolution to their appeal against a European ban by the "beginning of the summer" - with the outcome potentially impacting on Everton's plans.

City were hit with a two-season suspension from the Champions League and Europa League last week after being accused of breaking Financial Fair Play rules.

The Etihad Stadium club deny the charges and are to launch an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Should City's ban be upheld, and finish inside the Premier League's top four, then the side sat in fifth place would qualify for the Champions League, it is believed.

Everton are four points off fifth-placed Spurs with 12 games of the season to go.

And if City's appeal were to fail, but they win the Carabao Cup and a team already qualified for Europe through their league position lift the FA Cup, then the typical route into the Europa League via a seventh place finish, would drop down to eighth.

Soriano told Man City's website: "We are looking for an early resolution.

"Obviously, through a thorough process and a fair process but my best hope is this will be finished before the beginning of the summer."
