Manchester City are expecting more youngsters to depart on loan before next week's transfer deadline.
City have already utilised the loan market for a number of talented youngsters, with Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Morgan Rogers, Lewis Fiorini, Ben Knight, Filip Stevanovic, Yan Couto, Gavin Bazunu and Callum Doyle among those getting temporary moves to further their development.
Pep Guardiola has vetoed a loan for in-demand striker Liam Delap but said he expects Tommy Doyle to leave on loan in the final days of the transfer window.
And as well as Doyle, City are anticipating more deals for players who wouldn't get any playing time for the senior squad.
Speaking after City's EFL Trophy win over Scunthorpe on Tuesday, where forgotten winger Luke Bolton scored in a 3-0 win, academy head coach Brian Barry-Murphy offered an update on the club's transfer plans.
Bolton has spent time out on loan at Wycombe, Luton and Dundee United in recent seasons, and Barry-Murphy says the winger wants to continue experiencing regular men's football.
Barry-Murphy explained: "I’m not in a privileged position to know exactly what the plans for Luke are, but I think he’s generally been on loan for the last couple of years and I’ve been aware of that.
"He’s been adamant he wants to be playing as many games as possible, so it fits into where we are with the rest of the lads. Luke will be assessing his options over the next couple of weeks, and from our point of view we put him in good a position as we can.
"He’s game-ready and as you can see flying physically. It’s worked well and his attitude as been top class. I hope he gets whatever he feels he needs in the next couple of weeks."
In terms of other loan exits, Barry-Murphy said he couldn't name any specific deals in the pipeline, but explained how his job is to develop whoever is sent to train with the under-23s, regardless of City's transfer plans for them.
He said: "I’m not really sure, from where I am it’s a case of whatever we’re given we carry on with. I’m sure the club will have different pathways or plans for all the players. What that looks like at the moment I’m not sure.
"I could liken it to when you’re really young and you get to see one of the senior players come down and you’re in awe of them for a few days. When you get used to them it’s just priceless learning where you can feed off.
"We’ve had Patrick Roberts training with us, Pablo Moreno, Yan Couto, players with real international pedigree. While they have their own agenda trying to get fit for whatever lies next for them, it’s simply for me trying to accommodate them all and the fruits are very beneficial if you can get that right and get everyone pushing together.
"It’s very important for the players to understand that they’re worried individually what they’re looking for, but if we can be in a collective together and everyone goes together it’s very important."
