Liverpool fans know all too well by now the reasons for the need to sell players before buying this summer, but at other clubs like Man City, the strategy is somewhat different.
Pep Guardiola has added Jack Grealish to his ranks for £100m, and the hope at the Etihad Stadium is that his England teammate Harry Kane might be able to join him soon.
Those arrivals, though, as Guardiola admitted himself last week, could cause a slight issue.
Grealish comes into an attack that already have Kevin de Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez several others, and keeping all of those players happy is not easy.
Bernardo Silva has already asked to leave, but getting an offer for him that would suffice in this market might be tough, and that is before asking the question of whether you would be prepared to lose someone of his talent to a Champions League rival.

Keeping him, though, risks upsetting squad harmony, which was already slightly unbalanced in the latter part of last season, according to reports, and that feeling will only grow.
"I think Bernardo is the most likely to go - he is the one that Pep named in his press conference as one who wants to go," said the MEN's Man City fan brand writer, Alex Brotherton, on a special podcast exclusively for members of the Blood Red Club.
"He also said there were up to four others keen on a move away too, but Bernardo is the one who will have the most suitors.
"It's been reported that Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are interested in him - I can't see him going to Barcelona given their current situation but he is the most attractive option for clubs looking to sign a creative talent.
"I don't think we are at the stage where if these players don't leave it would be a problem and it would lead to some sort of mutiny or a rift in the dressing room.
"You only have to look at how these players are performing even though they want to leave the club - they are at the elite level with their professionalism and mentality.
"Joao Cancelo is another who is likely to be one of the four who wants to leave, but I don't think if they don't go there will be mutiny.
"But if it's not this summer, then those players who want out will probably leave next summer."

At Liverpool, while their squad depth could be improved in certain areas, there is a balance to be struck.
Too many players in one area will mean some want to move on - Xherdan Shaqiri, this summer, for instance, though he was bought cheaply and will make almost as much back should be find a new club.
Jurgen Klopp has always maintained that he prefers to work with a smaller group, avoiding problems such as these.
And while Man City might not suffer too much from unrest in the short-term, it is something that they will have to consider carefully in the long-term, as Liverpool already have.
