Man City handed Ilkay Gundogan injury concern ahead of Champions League final

Manchester City have been handed a significant injury concern around Ilkay Gundogan ahead of the Champions League final against Chelsea.

City 's leading scorer opened the scoring at the AMEX Stadium with just two minutes on the clock but saw his involvement ended prematurely.

Nine minutes into the second half, the Germany international required treatment on the field and Pep Guardiola took no chances - introducing Fernandinho in his place.

While Gundogan was able to walk off the field himself, his early departure from the penultimate game of the Premier League season will raise concerns ahead of the Champions League final.

City are due to tackle Chelsea in the second all-English Champions League final in three years in just 10 days time, as the club looks to win Europe's elite competition for the first time.

Gundogan has been integral to City's success this season, contributing 16 goals and five assists across all competitions.

That includes three goals in the Champions League, where Gundogan found the net against Porto and Marseille in the group stages as well as in the knockout-round victory against Borussia Monchengladbach.

City conclude their Premier League title-winning campaign against Everton on Sunday, with question marks as to whether Gundogan will be able to feature.

Following the match at the Etihad Stadium, which will be played in front of a number of lucky supporters, City will be presented with the title.

Regardless of whether he is able to feature in the action, Gundogan will of course be present for those celebrations.
