Man City great Vincent Kompany adds former Manchester United youngster to Anderlecht staff

Vincent Kompany has appointed a former Manchester United youngster to his coaching staff at Anderlecht.

The former Manchester City captain took over as player manager at the Belgian club this summer and he's now finalising his backroom staff for next season.

One of his key assistant coaches will be 32-year-old Floribert N'Galula, who spent four years at Old Trafford and was a highly-rated prospect at United until injury struck.

Kompany and N'Galula are both from Brussels and came through the youth system at Anderlecht together. While the latter moved to United when he was 16 they have remained close through their playing careers and when Kompany returned to his former club this summer he recruited N'Galula, whose playing career was decimated by injury.

The defender joined United in 2003 and won the Reserve Shield in 2005, but he was released in 2007 having never made a first team start as he struggled with injury. His career took him to Randers in Denmark, Sparta Rotterdam, DC United, TPS in Finland and back to Belgium with OH Leuven, but he never made more than 30 appearances for a club.

N'Galula joins former City striker Craig Bellamy and ex-United midfielder and City coach Simon Davies on Kompany's staff.
