Man City goalkeeper Ederson sent message following costly mistakes in Manchester United defeat

Man City fans have sent goalkeeper Ederson messages of support following his costly blunders in the defeat to Manchester United.

It wasn't a good afternoon for City who lost the Manchester derby for the third time this season, due to goals from Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay, but it was a particularly bad day at the office for Ederson.

The Brazilian was at fault for both goals, as he let Martial's tame volley squirm under his body and into the bottom corner for the opener.

With the Blues chasing the game in the final moments Ederson tried to get a last-gasp attack started but his throw went straight to McTominay who blasted into an empty net from 40 yards.

Ederson had his shirt over his face when the second goal went in but City fans have backed their goalkeeper, citing how good he has been for them for the last three years and insisting that he remains a great player.

Ederson was also backed by manager Pep Guardiola after the game, who refused to lay any blame at the goalkeeper's feet.

“He is an extraordinary keeper. Next time he is going to be better,” the Blues boss said.

“He is an extraordinary player in the build-up, the saves ... sometimes it happens. He saved one or two.”
