Claudio Bravo is closer to a Manchester City comeback after returning to training for the first time since August.
The former Barcelona goalkeeper, who belatedly impressed fans in the league cup last season after a disastrous first year at the club, ruptured his Achilles tendon during a practice game in training after just two Premier League games.
Once the extent of the injury was confirmed, City were forced to bring rookie Aro Muric back on loan from Dutch partner club NAC Breda and the 20-year-old has filled in as the club's No.2 this season, serving on the bench for Premier League games and starting in the Carabao Cup to give Ederson a rest.
Bravo, though, is nearing a comeback ahead of the end of the season and the Copa America.
"[He took part in] the first part of the training session on the pitch, it was a long, long injury," said Guardiola. "After the surgery, he had a little bit of infection, take more time to recover. He is optimistic and it is to recover well."

The Manchester City boss also provided an injury update on Sergio Aguero. The club's star striker limped off against Fulham at the weekend throwing any role in the upcoming games against Cardiff and Brighton into doubt.
"He didn't train for the last two days and tomorrow is not able, so hopefully for Saturday or Tuesday," Guardiola confirmed.
"But we will see the evolution of the next days."
