Man City goalkeeper Aro Muric suffers early setback on loan

Manchester City goalkeeper Aro Muric will hope to force himself back into contention when Nottingham Forest take on Derby County in the Carabao Cup.

The Blues stopper, on loan at the Championship club this season, suffered a debut to forget when he erred for two goals in their defeat to West Bromwich Albion on the opening day but kept his place for the first four league games.

However, he was relegated to the bench at the weekend as Brice Samba came in for Forest's 2-1 win at Fulham and was praised for giving confidence to the team.

Coach Sabri Lamouchi insisted that Muric will still get opportunities , but he now looks to have a bigger fight on his hands for a first-team place.

“Aro is young; he is only 20 years old. He has huge quality and he will play again, don’t worry about that,” he told the Nottingham Post .

“Just for this game, I needed more experience. We saw the experience from Brice. I was not sure about it. It was just my idea, my responsibility to make the right choice for the team.

“I put the best XI players out there. I will try to do the same on Tuesday. With the same result? I don’t know. But hopefully we show the same spirit.”

The Kosovo international is highly-rated at the Etihad and signed a new three-year deal before heading out on loan after a successful season deputising for Ederson in the Carabao Cup.
