Man City given Romelu Lukaku transfer update as Sergio Aguero question remains

If there was any real hope that Manchester City could sign striker Romelu Lukaku, then they have been dealt a blow if the latest rumours are to be believed.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been linked with the former Manchester United forward over the past few days, with the Belgian's future at Inter Milan said to be in doubt.

However, according to a report in The Express, Lukaku has no intentions of leaving the Serie A club any time soon, and is loving life in Italy.

The report goes on to say that rumours suggesting Lukaku could move to the Etihad Stadium have been described as “fantasy news” and should not be taken too seriously.

The striker has been with Inter since the summer of 2019, after spending two seasons with Manchester United, where things did not go according to plan.

Signed from Chelsea for £75million, those at Old Trafford hoped he would be the striker to bring the Premier League title back to the club, but that failed to happen.

Since arriving in Italy 18 months ago, Lukaku has scored 51 goals in 74 appearances, including 17 in all competitions this term.

City could well be in the market for a striker in the summer, with the future of Sergio Aguero in doubt due to his contract running out at the end of the season.
