Man City given quadruple injury boost ahead of Premier League return

Man City have been handed a massive injury boost ahead of the return of the Premier League as Kevin de Bruyne, John Stones, Benjamin Mendy and Fernandinho all trained on Monday.

The quartet have struggled with injury problems over recent weeks and months but took part in a light session on their road back to full fitness.

With a hectic month of fixtures on the horizon their returns have been described as a 'welcome boost' by City.

Stones and De Bruyne haven't appeared for City since the 1-0 victory against Bournemouth at the start of March after both were substituted before the second half, with a groin strain and hamstring injury, respectively. Both also had to withdraw from their national team squads due to the injuries.

Fernandinho hasn't featured since he was substituted at the end of regulation time in the Carabao Cup final victory against Chelsea after sustaining a muscular injury.

Left-back Mendy, however, has been out of action for a whole lot longer.

The Frenchman hasn't played since a brief cameo in the 1-0 second-leg win against Burton Albion in late January and hasn't started a game since November.

He has missed 33 games this season after struggling to recover from knee surgery but after spending the international break on a warm-weather training trip to Dubai, he may finally return to action as the season's reaches its crucial point.

Man City might have found a new Fernandinho alternative

Vincent Kompany also returned to training after missing the last two games.

However, it's unknown how bad the injuries that kept Nicolas Otamendi and Fabian Delph out of their respective international squads are.

City will hope to return to the top of the Premier League table when they face relegation strugglers Fulham on Saturday and then an intense month of fixtures awaits, with eight games to be played in April.

Guardiola's side will play an FA-Cup semi-final, face Tottenham Hotspur three times and compete in the Manchester derby as well as other league fixtures.

With such a pivotal month which could dictate just how historic this season will be for City as they look to win an unprecedented quadruple, they need as many fit players as they can get.
