Man City given David Alaba future update amid transfer links

David Alaba's agent has confirmed no decision has been made over his client's future but admitted Real Madrid and Barcelona are leading the race for his signature.

The Bayern Munich defender is set to leave the club this summer on a free transfer, which has sparked a huge scramble across Europe for his signature.

The Austrian defender has been linked with a move to Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola still looking to find a long-term left-back, whilst Guardiola has also previously worked with Alaba during his spell at Bayern.

MEN Sport understands that the 28-year-old is not currently a transfer target for City, though speculation continues to link him with a move to the Etihad Stadium.

Alaba's agent, Pini Zahavi has now given an update on his future, claiming no decision has been made.

“David has to choose who wins the race,” Zahavi, told Kicker.

Zahavi revealed that Barcelona and Real Madrid are currently leading that race but insisted the door remains open to other options.

"We are still talking to other clubs," he clarified, adding that his decision will not be taken in haste: "There is no deadline."

Alaba will be involved in this summer's European Championships with Austria and is likely to make a decision on his future after the tournament.

Real Madrid are particularly keen to sign Alaba, with Sergio Ramos out of contract at the end of the season and Raphael Varane's future uncertain.

The Frenchman has one year left on his current contract at the Bernabeu and has been linked with a move to Manchester United.
