Man City give fitness update on Sergio Aguero ahead of West Brom game

Pep Guardiola will make a late decision on Sergio Aguero's fitness for Manchester City's Premier League fixture with West Brom after the striker returned to training.

Aguero came off the bench to score against Marseille in the Champions League last Wednesday, but he was suffering from gastroenteritis over the weekend which ruled him out of the derby with United at Old Trafford.

The 32-year-old has suffered an injury-hit season so far and Guardiola is going to treat his return with caution, but he could feature against the Baggies at the Etihad after training on Monday.

"He trained today, he couldn't train for last two or three days. We'll decide tomorrow," Guardiola said of his striker's fitness.

The Blues will be without Eric Garcia and Aleks Zinchenko, however, as they continue to recover from injuries.

Aymeric Laporte hasn't started for City in the Premier League since the defeat to Tottenham, when he was dragged out of position for Son Heung-Min's opening goal, and John Stones has shone in his absence.

But Guardiola insists his future selections in the centre of defence will be based on performances.

"It depends on the performance. John is performing well and that's why he is playing but there are a lot of games," said Guardiola.

"Everyone has to be ready. Be ready and don't complain much because you may have a chance around the corner."
