Man City get Kevin De Bruyne injury boost ahead of Belgium vs Denmark in Euro 2020

Kevin De Bruyne could make his first appearance of Euro 2020 after travelling with the Belgium squad to their second group game in Denmark.

De Bruyne has been recovering from the acute nose bone fracture and left orbital fracture he suffered in the Champions League final for Manchester City at the end of May, which kept him out of Belgium's Euros opener.

To boost his chances of playing a part in the tournament, De Bruyne underwent a short procedure last week with the agreement of City medical staff, but that kept him out of their win against Russia.

Since then, De Bruyne has been seen returning to training this week, and his chances of playing in Belgium's second game appear to have gone up as he joined his teammates in the squad travelling to Copenhagen.

Roberto Martinez could give a further update on De Bruyne's prospects of featuring, but he had previously said the City man was making good progress with his injury.

City will be watching closely to see how De Bruyne fares after such a concerning injury. Belgium lead the way in Group B, and take take another big step towards the last 16 with a win in Denmark on Thursday.

Speaking last week, Martinez said: "[He's doing] very well, the medical intervention went extremely well. It’s still a very fresh one, so will take a few days but the initial reaction has been really positive and he seems ready. He’s looking more forwards than backwards."
