Man City get injury boost for derby as Aleks Zinchenko available

Pep Guardiola will have all three left-backs available for the Manchester derby with Aleks Zinchenko back in training and available.

The Ukrainian international has missed the last six weeks of action after suffering a knee injury that required surgery but returned to training on Sunday.

After a good week back with the Manchester City squad, Zinchenko is in contention to push Benjamin Mendy and Angelino for a starting place in the derby - although his match sharpness could count against him.

"He trained the last days with all the squad. He’s ready but with the physical condition I don’t know how many minutes he can play. Everyone is OK, fit."

Zinchenko started the season as first-choice left-back with Mendy injured and Angelino still getting up to speed following his summer move from PSV Eindhoven.

Nobody has looked convincing enough in the position to establish themselves as an integral part of the team and they all offer different qualities to the team, but Guardiola will at least have all three to choose from for the derby.

Ilkay Gundogan is also available after being suspended for the Burnley game to add to the midfield options. Rodri excelled in the holding role at Burnley, with Fernandinho unlikely to be moved out of the defence.

Sergio Aguero, Aymeric Laporte and Leroy Sane are all still out.
