Man City get injury boost as Ederson trains ahead of Chelsea fixture

Ederson was back on the Manchester City training pitches to boost Pep Guardiola ahead of their Premier League fixture with Chelsea.

The reigning champions could not have asked for a much tougher game than Frank Lampard's in-form side as they look to bounce back from a Liverpool defeat that has left them nine points behind the league leaders and in fourth place.

But they could at least have their preferred goalkeeper back as the Brazilian trained at the City Football Academy with the players that have not been fully involved on international duty.

After being substituted with a thigh injury at half-time of the Champions League match with Atalanta at the start of the month, Ederson missed the Premier League fixture at Anfield. Claudio Bravo deputised and came in for criticism for two of the three goals conceded.

Guardiola did not expect Ederson's injury to keep the stopper out for a prolonged period of time but it took more than a few days to recover.

David Silva also trained this week, while Rodri has been involved with the Spain team, as Guardiola's injury worries ease up ahead of the most congested part of the season. City play three games before the end of November and then another nine running up to and including New Year's Day.
