Manchester City defenders Aymeric Laporte and John Stones are both set to be fit to face Liverpool next Sunday, despite initial injury concerns.
Laporte has been named in the City starting-eleven to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this afternoon, meanwhile Stones is among the substitutes.
Speaking ahead of the Sky Blues' Carabao Cup third-round clash with Wycombe Wanderers earlier this week, Pep Guardiola indicated that the defensive duo would miss out on the match due to being injured.
“I don’t have any alternatives, we are going to play a few young players, some first team players, but some will rest for the games we have ahead of us,” said Guardiola of his Wycombe selection.
“A few players from the academy are going to play because we have John, Aymeric, Rodri, Oleks [Zinchenko], I think Gundogan, all of them are injured."
But the pair are now fully recovered and available for selection once again, meaning they will be fit to face Liverpool at Anfield barring any last-minute injury scares.
Jurgen Klopp's side are facing injury issues of their own heading into this heavyweight fixture, with options in midfield already limited to the Liverpool boss despite being in the early stages of the season.
Harvey Elliott, Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita are all currently sidelined, with Elliott set for a lengthy spell out of the side.
