Man City flight to London 'forced to reroute' due to problem with plane's braking system

Manchester City's team flight to London was forced to reroute because of a problem with the plane's braking system, according to reports.

Pep Guardiola's side flew into the capital from Manchester on Friday, ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with West Ham.

They were due to arrive at London City Airport in the evening, but instead diverted to Stanstead some 33 miles away from their destination.

According to the Daily Mail, there was a problem with the plane's anti-skid braking system, which was carrying the entire squad including backroom staff members.

The fault meant that the plane needed a longer runway than the one present at London City Airport in which to land safely.

Stanstead has a longer runway, and the plane diverted to touch down in Essex.

Manchester City will be expecting to take all three points from West Ham this Saturday, but Guardiola believes the east London outfit have an advantage going into the clash.

Unlike Man City, the Hammers have no European commitments this season, and Guardiola believes David Moyes' players will be fresher as a result.

"It's why this league was always so difficult and everyone can lose everywhere," said Guardiola, assessing the added strains of European football.

"It's for this reason, some guys have seven or eight days to prepare, a huge advantage for the other team. We can adjust, accept, handle the situation if you are a player or manager.

"All the teams playing in Europe have the same problem. The schedule is crazy for everyone. For three, four games in a row maybe I decide to use the same squad and other ones I make changes."
