Man City fixture decision that could impact when Liverpool claim Premier League title

Manchester City and Arsenal are in talks with the Premier League about rearranging their postponed game - and it could be played next week.

The two were meant to meet at the Etihad at the weekend, but the game was postponed because of the Carabao Cup final, which City beat Aston Villa 2-1 in.

The two clubs are now in discussion with the Premier League about playing the fixture next Wednesday as they both have free midweek slots.

It is well known that Liverpool are only 12 points away from ending their 30-year wait for an elusive Premier League title.

And even though they were beaten by Watford on Saturday evening, four more wins would secure them the league title, regardless of City's results.

But if Pep Guardiola's side were to slip up any time before, then the Reds could claim the league title even earlier.

Should City, as things stand, lose their next two games against Manchester United on March 8 and Burnley on March 14, then the Reds could claim the title against arch-rivals Everton at Goodison Park on March 16.

But if City’s game with Arsenal is confirmed for next week, then that means the Sky Blues have an extra chance to slip up and present Klopp’s side with an early opportunity of becoming Premier League champions.

However, it is also worth noting that should Liverpool make it to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup by beating Chelsea in the fifth round, then their home match with Crystal Palace on March 21 will be moved.

The same would also apply to City, who would see their game against Chelsea on March 21 moved if they win at Sheffield Wednesday in their FA Cup tie.
