Man City favourite makes Pep Guardiola predictions and Champions League claim

Manchester City favourite Trevor Sinclair believes Pep Guardiola will leave the club at the end of the season.

The Spaniard's deal is up after the 2020/21 season and he is yet to commit himself to a new contract as of yet.

Guardiola took a year's sabbatical after leaving Barcelona following four-trophy laden years at the Nou Camp.

Whilst the City boss' contract future remains uncertain, speculation will continue to grow.

Guardiola is desperate to win the Champions League at City, having failed to make it past the quarter-finals during his time in England.

As a result, Sinclair believes Guardiola will leave at the end of the season but believes his time with the club will have been a success even if they're not crowned European champions this season.

“I think this is his last season,” the former City star told the talkSPORT.

“I don’t think it’s going to be a falling-out, I think he’s going to leave the club in a kind of celebration.

“He’s been unbelievable at Manchester City. I know he’s not got over the line in Europe with the Champions League, but I think he’s changed our game.

“The media hounded him when he first came over, saying he has to adapt, he has to change, he has to adjust, but he stuck to his guns and you see how loads of teams play now.

“When you see what happened in 2018/19 when they got over 100 points, you have to say credit to him for sticking to his principles.

“But he had a parent who died this year through COVID-19 and I just think it would be a natural organic end [if he left next summer], and if he can get over the line with the Champions League this season, that would be great.

“But if he doesn’t, anyone who says he’s not been a success in England, I don’t know what they’ve been drinking.

“That’s certainly not the case in my opinion, I think he’s been a success.

“You look at Sir Alex Ferguson, the most successful manager in English football; he only won the Champions League twice over a 20-odd year period.

“So not to win it over a five-year period, I don’t think that’s a disgrace at all.”
