Man City fans would change one player in starting XI vs Brighton in the Premier League

Manchester City fans think Joao Cancelo should have been handed his full debut after Pep Guardiola named his starting line up against Brighton in the Premier League.

City can temporarily move above Liverpool in the table with a win ahead of the Reds' teatime kick off, and they face the side they beat on the last day of the season to lift the Premier League in Brighton.

Before the game, Guardiola suggested the match would come too soon for John Stones and Gabriel Jesus - despite Stones returning to training this week. The manager also hinted that Kyle Walker would get the nod ahead of Joao Cancelo at right back.

In defence, Guardiola named an unchanged back four as Stones was not part of the squad at the Etihad. That meant Walker, Aymeric Laporte, Nicolas Otamendi and Oleks Zinchenko started again.

In midfield Rodri returned in place of Ilkay Gundogan, while Kevin de Bruyne continued in the centre after his fine start to the season alongside David Silva.

Sergio Aguero got the nod upfront, having scored in each of his three Premier League appearances against Brighton in his career. Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez support him on the wings.

And fans were delighted to see Mahrez get a chance on the right, but wanted to see Cancelo at the Etihad.

Man City starting XI vs Brighton: Ederson, Walker, Otamendi, Laporte, Zinchenko, Rodrigo, De Bruyne, D Silva (C), Sterling, Mahrez, Aguero.

Subs: Bravo, Gundogan, Angelino, Bernardo, Fernandinho, Cancelo, Foden.
