Man City fans think Riyad Mahrez has dropped a massive hint over Fernandinho's future at the club

Manchester City fans believe that Riyad Mahrez may have dropped a huge hint over the future of Fernandinho , declaring the Brazilian will leave at the end of the season while facing Benjamin Mendy in a Christmas present wrapping contest.

Sky Sports asked the two Man City stars a series of questions and tasked them with wrapping various gifts.

When asked which City star announced at the start of the season that it would be his final year at City, correct answer David Silva, Mahrez immediately tapped his buzzer and shouted: "David and Fernandinho."

The presenter replied that Silva was the right answer while ignoring that Mahrez also mentioned Fernandinho.

Mendy shot his teammate a glance and couldn't hold back a smirk leading some City fans to believe that the Algerian may have let information slip that Fernandinho will be departing; with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The midfielder commented on his future back in November: "I always say I’ll play until my mind will allow me to play.

"When I feel happy and motivated to play every day this is important. To train happy and fresh everyday so until I don’t feel like this, I will play, but I don’t want to say until 37, 38...40; we shall see."

More recently, Pep Guardiola said that new contracts will be decided at the end of the season.

He said: "I think at the end of the season we are going to decide on the situation.

"The players who finished their contracts, the players with full contracts, what we have to do is what we believe is the best for the club and organisation for next season."
