Man City fans think one starter vs Man Utd is confirmed after Port Vale team

Manchester City fans think Eric Garcia has been rested against Port Vale in the FA Cup in order to rest him for the Carabao Cup semi final first leg with Manchester United this week.

With the League Two visitors coming to the Etihad as the final game of six matches in 18 games over Christmas and New Year, Pep Guardiola has made a number of changes to the City side that beat Everton on New Year's Day. Only Claudio Bravo, Joao Cancelo, Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden keep their places.

In goal, Ederson was absent again following two games out, so Claudio Bravo remained between the sticks.

In defence, John Stones started as Guardiola had confirmed on Friday, with Taylor Harwood-Bellis alongside him and Cancelo and Angelino at full-back. Garcia drops to the bench.

In midfield, Gundogan and David Silva play, as did Aleks Zinchenko who could play his favoured midfield role as opposed to his usual left-back position. Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva will support Sergio Aguero upfront.

And fans felt the absence of Garcia at centre-back means he is being rested for the clash with United next week. Garcia has played each of the last three games along with Fernandinho, who has been rested completely.
