Man City fans shocked by line up vs Brighton as Benjamin Mendy starts

Manchester City fans have been left surprised and delighted with the starting line-up for the FA Cup semi-final against Brighton as Benjamin Mendy has started for the first time since November.

The French left-back has been struggling with injuries all season after struggling to recover from knee surgery which has seen him miss the majority of the campaign.

He has only made 12 appearances so far this season, his last being a half an hour cameo in the last half an hour in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Burton Albion on January 23.

Pep Guardiola was left with a selection headache in the week as Mendy's stand in Aleks Zinchenko was taken off after just 19 minutes in the 2-0 victory against Cardiff City.

The Ukrainian is set to miss 10-12 days with a hamstring injury ruling him out of today's clash at Wembley.

It was thought that the Blues boss would deploy either Danilo or Aymeric Laporte out of position at left-back in his absence but instead Mendy has returned to the side and City fans are delighted to see him back.

He sure is

Stunned

In the flesh

Forgotten who he was

You certainly do

Long time coming

Awesome!

Lets hope so
