Man City fans share same frustration after Aymeric Laporte injury

Manchester City are sweating on the fitness of central defender Aymeric Laporte after the Frenchman was stretchered off in the first half of the Blues' Premier League game against Brighton.

Laporte went down after looking to dispossess Brighton's Adam Webster and immediately signalled to City's medical team that he was in need of attention.

The former Athletic Bilbao defender was initially treated on the pitch before he was loaded onto a stretcher and carried down the tunnel while shaking his head.

The injury leaves Nicolas Otamendi as City's only fit senior centre-back, with John Stones also sidelined.

City ended last season with four senior centre-backs in their squad but started this campaign with only three having failed to replace Vincent Kompany following his move to Anderlecht.

Fernandinho came on for Laporte and the Brazilian will probably be trusted to stand in in the centre of defence for as long as he is needed.

But the fact that he is required to play there at all has left City fans all asking why the club neglected to sign a replacement for Kompany during the summer.

You could see it coming.

Just great.

It's going to kill us.

Do we sense a little frustration?

Why?

Odd decision.
