Man City fans set points target in Premier League title race with Liverpool FC

Manchester City supporters believe Pep Guardiola's side will have to earn maximum points from their remaining seven Premier League games to fend off Liverpool.

The Blues are targeting a maiden title defence after last season's procession to a record-breaking, 100-point league triumph, and sit two points adrift of Jurgen Klopp's side with a game in hand.

City will leapfrog the Anfield outfit back to the league's summit with a win against Cardiff City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesdasy night, and City fans polled by MEN Sport feel there is no margin for error as the season nears its conclusion.

Liverpool were fortunate to pick up maximum points against Tottenham on Sunday, with a pair of Spurs errors earning a late victory. Moussa Sissoko squandered a gilt-edged opportunity before a poor piece of goalkeeping from Hugo Lloris gifted Klopp's side a winner at the death.

Mohamed Salah's weird jibe about Man City star Sergio Aguero unnecessary in a brilliant title race

City have won each of their last seven league outings and 68% of 548 supporters polled felt that feat would have to be replicated to secure the league title. Seven wins would take the Blues to 98 points.

Fulham were the latest team to suffer defeat at the hands of City, with the Blues running out 2-0 winners at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

It was a cruise for City but Guardiola insisted his side will not let up in the race for silverware.

"If you are 10 points in front you can maybe be a little more selective," he said.

"But now there's no other option, we don't have any other choice, so every game we have to win, if not you drop that competition.

"So that's why sometimes to play with that pressure is nice, it's necessary to get the best out of ourselves."
