Man City fans send Pep Guardiola transfer demand following Bruno Fernandes' performance for Portugal

Man City fans have pleaded with manager Pep Guardiola to sign Bruno Fernandes following his excellent performance for Portugal in the Nations League final.

Despite an unprecedented amount of success last season, Guardiola is expected to significantly improve his City squad this summer in order to fulfil his ambition of winning the Champions League.

Due to the age of both David Silva and Fernandinho, midfield seems to be an area in which City are particularly focused on reinforcing.

While Atletico Madrid's Rodri appears to be the number one target for the holding-midfield role, City have been linked with a host of attacking midfielders.

Yet none more so than Sporting's Fernandes, who was one of the best players on the pitch, especially in the opening 45 minutes, and showed why City are rumoured to be interested.

Portugal were the eventual winners of the final thanks to Goncalo Guedes' fine winner, yet it was Fernandes who performed best on the right of a midfield three and he linked up particularly well with Bernardo Silva.

It was his fast and incisive passing from deep that allowed Portugal to counter attack with pace and he looked dangerous throughout, with several wicked shots from distance coming close to bursting the net.

The 24-year-old also had a fine season for his club as he scored 32 goals, set up a further 18, in 52 games and he captained his team to a historic cup victory against Porto.

The chase for his signature looks set to be one of the transfer sagas of the summer, as both United and City are said to be interested in the midfielder.

However, City fans were left very excited by his performance in the Nations League final and believe he would fit perfectly into City's midfield.
