Man City fans send inspirational message to Aymeric Laporte after injury blow

Manchester City have been dealt a huge blow this afternoon after manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that star defender Aymeric Laporte will be sidelined for up to six months.

Laporte sustained a knee injury two weeks ago in the win over Brighton and subsequently headed to Spain to undergo surgery.

Guardiola admitted that Man City will definitely not be able to call on the centre-back until January at the earliest, with the injury blow significant considering how solid the 25-year-old has been so far this season.

"Long," replied the Spaniard when asked how long the defender will be out. "Five months, six months. Next year for sure, January, February,"

Laporte started 34 games for the Blues last season and had took the field for the opening four matches of the new campaign, with the French defender stepping up following the departure of Vincent Kompany.

But now City will have to deal without one of their more experienced defenders, something which has led to reaction aplenty from fans.
