Man City fans send clear message to rivals over 2020/21 Premier League title

Manchester City fans have sent a clear message to rival fans over where they believe the Premier League title will end up this season.

City have lifted trophy in 2018 and 2019 under Pep Guardiola but were overtaken by Liverpool last season.

However, in a survey of City fans by the MEN, the vast majority are confident that the title will again be at the Etihad Stadium come May.

Pep Guardiola has used the transfer window to strengthen his squad this summer, bringing in Ferran Torres from Valencia and Nathan Ake from Bournemouth.

City beat Liverpool to the title by just one point in 2019 but Liverpool opened up a gap of 18 points as they lifted the trophy for the first time last season.

But, in the survey, 80 per centof City fans believe that Guardiola’s side will be able to close that gap and reclaim the title this season.

Ten per cent of fans believe that they will finish second, while five per cent think they will finish third and two per cent think they will finish fourth (the remaining three per cent didn’t give an answer).

City have a slightly longer wait for the return of the Premier League, due to their involvement in latter stages of the Champions League at the end of last season.

City start their season with a trip to Molineux to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Liverpool on the other hand got off to a winning start with a 4-3 victory over Leeds United, but they were given a scare by the newly-promoted team.
