Man City fans say same thing about substitutes bench vs Everton

Manchester City fans have suggested their bench is stronger than the starting XI Pep Guardiola has named to face Everton today.

City host Carlo Ancelotti's Everton on New Year's Day, looking to begin 2020 on a winning note. However, Guardiola has named a much-changed side for City's third game in six days.

Ederson, suspended for the Sheffield United win last time out, is out due to illness, so Claudio Bravo starts.

In defence, Joao Cancelo and Benjamin Mendy start, with Fernandinho partnering Eric Garcia in the centre, with Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones not involved in the matchday squad.

In midfield, Kevin De Bruyne keeps his place after a goal and assist against Sheffield United. He is partnered by Rodri and Ilkay Gundogan, with Phil Foden was also a rare start - potentially on the wing.

Upfront, Guardiola brings back Gabriel Jesus with Riyad Mahrez out wide.

But fans feel the strength of the substitutes is arguably stronger than the starting XI, with the likes of Kyle Walker, David Silva, Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero all named on the bench.
