Man City fans rejoice over Aymeric Laporte decision vs Sheffield United

Manchester City fans couldn't contain their excitement as Pep Guardiola named Aymeric Laporte in the starting XI to face Sheffield United in the Premier League on Tuesday.

Laporte has been out of action since injuring his knee five months ago in the win over Brighton in August. He had been spotted in training recently, but Guardiola had urged caution over when he would return, saying the Frenchman would be allowed as much time as possible to reach full fitness.

He was named in a back three at Bramall Lane alongside Fernandinho and Nicolas Otamendi, as John Stones did not recover from the knock picked up against Crystal Palace at the weekend. Benjamin Mendy also missed out, and Sergio Aguero dropped to the bench.

But City fans were mainly delighted about the return of Laporte, who they have been waiting for to shore up the defence which has proved problematic this season.
