Man City fans react to Robin Van Persie's Liverpool FC scare claim

Manchester United hero Robin Van Persie has marked his BT Sport punditry debut by making a huge claim, as he believes that Manchester City are scared of Liverpool.

The Reds matched City stride for stride in the hunt for the Premier League title last season, with Pep Guardiola's side eventually finishing just a single point clear and lifting the title for the second year in a row.

Liverpool are expected to be City's main challengers in the hunt for the Premier League in 2019/20, while the two sides are also seen as the leading contenders for other competitions, including the Champions League.

Since Guardiola's arrival in England, the Spaniard has enjoyed a fierce competitive rivalry with Jurgen Klopp and, despite City's dominance in the trophy count, Van Persie believes City are scared of their Merseyside counterparts.

“The way they play, the way they go in behind, the way they hurt opponents with their fast attackers. The midfield is always there, it’s very strong,” he told BT Sport.

“City, I think, are scared of Liverpool. City, in a way, are scared of nobody except Liverpool.”

Unsurprisingly, fans were quick to pick up on those comments and were certainly not pleased by the comments of the legendary Dutch striker, as they quickly took to social media to dispute his claim.
