Man City fans pinpoint winning moment in Community Shield victory over Liverpool FC

Man City fans have identified Kyle Walker's sensational last minute goal-line clearance as they key moment in their victory against Liverpool in the Community Shield.

It was always going to be a hard fought affair between the country's two most dominant clubs as they compete in the season curtain raiser and City managed to scrape through with a 5-4 penalty victory.

The Blues had taken the lead early on when Raheem Sterling pounced on an exquisite David Silva flick to bundle the ball home. City dominated the first half but couldn't find a second goal.

Liverpool came out flying after the break and their equaliser from Joel Matip in the 77th minute was a just reward for spending the entirety of the half in the ascendancy.

The Reds could have completed the come back in the second minute of injury time when Mohamed Salah headed the ball over a stranded Claudio Bravo.

The ball was looping into the goal, and some Liverpool supporters had even started celebrating, but Walker charged back from nowhere to acrobatically overhead kick the ball from danger, ensuring the game stayed level and went to penalties.

City would then win the shootout after scoring all their spotkicks and Bravo saving from Gigi Wijnaldum in the only missed penalty.

But if it wasn't for Walker the game would have been lost and some City fans have credited the defender for the win.
