Man City fans offered free tickets to watch under-23s lift Premier League 2 trophy at final game

Pep Guardiola’s first team is not the only Manchester City side to bring glory to the club this season, with the under-23s wrapping up back-to-back Premier League 2 titles last week. And the young Blues will get their trophy in style, playing their final game of the season against Everton on Friday (7pm) at the Etihad Stadium, with admission free for all supporters.

City have left the opposition trailing this season, with second-placed West Ham six points behind going into the final round of games, a year after a team inspired by Liam Delap, James McAtee and Cole Palmer - all now in the first team squad but likely to figure in Friday's game- set new records in lifting the title for the first time. City clinched the crown with a 3-1 win at Leeds last Friday, fittingly in front of 21,000 fans at Elland Road, giving coach Brian Barry-Murphy success in his first season in charge. They have scored 58 goals and recorded a league low of 32 conceded.

For the second year running, they also had the top scorer in the league, with McAtee netting 18 times, after Delap set a new league record with 24 last year. Tommy Doyle, now on loan at Cardiff, headed up the assists table last season, and Oscar Bobb took that honour this time round with nine.

The Blues are also enjoying success at other age groups, with the under-18s clinching their Premier League north division title with three games still to play - they will face a play-off with the eventual southern champions, when they could win the overall title for a record third time, having also win it last year and in 2015-16. They also lifted the under-17s Premier League Cup three weeks ago, thrashing Tottenham 6-0 in the final.
