Man City fans name the selection decision they wanted vs Tottenham

Manchester City fans think Eric Garcia should have been named in the starting XI in place of Nicolas Otamendi against Tottenham.

Pep Guardiola named a strong team at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, despite being without Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Benjamin Mendy.

Ederson and Fernandinho returned after being rested in City's midweek clash with Manchester United, with Fernandinho taking his place back in defence alongside Otamendi.

In midfield, Guardiola named Rodri, Kevin de Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan, with Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero in attack.

Reacting to the team, some fans felt Sterling, without a goal in his last seven appearances, should have been taken out of the firing line, with others wondering why Garcia was not favoured ahead of Otamendi - who they feared might struggle against Tottenham's pacey attack.

Man City starting XI vs Tottenham: Ederson, Walker, Otamendi, Fernandinho (C), Zinchenko, Rodrigo, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Sterling, Aguero.

Substitutes: Bravo, G Jesus, Bernardo, D Silva, Cancelo, Foden, Garcia
