Man City fans name starting lineup they want vs West Ham

Manchester City will be looking to increase the pressure on Premier League leaders Chelsea with a win over West Ham today.

The Hammers come to the Etihad looking to continue their solid league run while righting the wrongs of the defeat to Wolves last weekend.

Liverpool staked their claim with a resounding 4-0 win over Ralph Hasenhuttl's side as Diogo Jota netted twice with a deflected Thiago strike and Virgil van Dijk volley securing the three points.

City will have the opportunity to turn the heat up on Thomas Tuchel's men as they kick off before their clash with Manchester United.

Confidence will be high after an emphatic win over Everton before coming from behind to beat Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday

A win would see the Blues move level on points with the Londoners - albeit temporarily ahead of their late kick-off. West Ham could move level on points with the hosts should they win but City would stay in third unless the East London side can overturn the goal difference which currently stands at 10, in the host's favour.

A penalty shootout defeat for Pep Guardiola's side at the hands of West Ham saw them exit the Carabao Cup to end their dominance in the competition - Phil Foden's penalty miss making the difference.

Foden missed the Champions League win but the Spanish boss has confirmed that he is training and could be in line to start.

City fans have been using our 'Pick the Team' tool to choose their preferred XI for this afternoon's match - here's who they have chosen:

Goalkeeper - Ederson

The Brazilian shot-stopper has been tipped to keep his place as Manchester City number one for the clash.

Clashes with West Ham have seen their magnitude escalate in recent years and this fixture is no different with every point dropped potentially fatal in City's title hopes highlighting his importance to feature.

Defenders - Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, Joao Cancelo

Manchester City's reliable backline are poised to continue.

The defence caught the headlines after the win over the Toffees for Joao Cancelo's superb delivery for Raheem Sterling's opening goal but in that match the quartet had little to do. Here they can expect a more difficult run-out.

Midfield - Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri, Bernardo Silva

An unchanged midfield from the win over Everton with Rodri amongst the goals in that rout.

The thunderous strike encapsulated everything to the Spaniard's game but the midfield will be vital in the clash and could determine whether the points stay at the Etihad or travel back to the London Stadium.

Evidence already shows that West Ham are capable of taking a scalp having flooded out Liverpool's midfield in their win over Jurgen Klopp's side at the beginning of November.

Attack - Riyad Mahrez, Jesus, Raheem Sterling

No place for Phil Foden given the fitness concerns over him, so Mahrez, Jesus and Sterling have been selected to lead the line.

Sterling made it two in two with the equaliser against Mauricio Pochettino's side whilst the Brazilian scored the winner.

Mahrez, on the other hand, will be looking to make a better impact after he struggled against Everton coming off the bench and miscuing a golden opportunity within minutes of his introduction.
