Man City fans name starting lineup they want to see vs West Ham

Manchester City will be looking to continue their remarkable Carabao Cup run when they tonight face a tough West Ham test.

West Ham stand in their way of moving into the last eight of the competition and will be looking for another scalp after beating Manchester United in the previous round thanks to Manuel Lanzini's first-half strike.

Brighton were coolly dispatched by Pep Guardiola's side in the late Premier League kick-off on Saturday with Phil Foden bagging twice as Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan contributed in an emphatic performance against an impressive Seagulls outfit.

David Moyes' side will come into the clash buoyed by a close win over their rivals Tottenham on Sunday as Michail Antonio scored another important goal at the London Stadium.

East London has been a happy hunting ground for the Blues in recent meetings, with West Ham's last win over City at home coming seven years ago, whilst they still called the Boleyn Ground home.

The Carabao Cup tends to be a competition that helps Guardiola allow for opportunities to youngsters with Foden making his debut in the competition aged 17 in the 5-4 penalty shootout win over Leicester four years ago.

Cole Palmer became the latest youngster to open his account for the club during their rampant display over League One side Wycombe Wanderers in the last round.

Goalkeeper - Zach Steffen

Zach Steffen is poised to return to the starting line-up for Manchester City in the Carabao Cup, a competition he is not short of experience in.

He also made his first Premier League appearance of the season during the 2-0 win over Burnley after the international break with the clash coming too soon for Ederson following his involvement with Brazil.

Defence - Kyle Walker, John Stones, Nathan Ake, Oleksandr Zinchenko

A completely different back four to what Pep Guardiola used last time out as he handed four debuts for the win over Wycombe, with Conrad Egan-Riley, Finley Burns, Luke Mbete-Tabu and Josh Wilson-Esbrand all making their senior bows for City.

However, fans expect a tougher clash and want Kyle Walker in alongside John Stones and Nathan Ake as central defenders.

It could also mean a return to action for Ukrainian Oleksandr Zinchenko who has only managed three appearances so far this term after suffering a calf injury.

Midfield - Fernandinho, Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin de Bruyne

City fans hope that midfield general Fernandinho starts from the offset, against a West Ham side who continue to grow from strength to strength, to offer stability against Jarrod Bowen, Said Benhrama and Antonio's threat.

Kevin de Bruyne came on as a substitute during the win over Brighton and Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring; both could return.

Attack - Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling, Samuel Edozie

With Mahrez rounding off the scoring and Raheem Sterling missing the game with a back injury, fans hope that both of them will feature.

Youngster Samuel Edozie could be in line to make his first Carabao Cup appearance of the season and feature in just his second Manchester City game, having started the Community Shield in August.

Fans will be eager to see the 18-year-old in action after he was named on the bench for Saturday's win, following his impressive displays for the youth sides in the UEFA Youth League and Premier League 2.
