Liverpool's win in Europe completed a nightmare season for United, who had to see City dominate the domestic competitions and lift three trophies plus the Community Shield.
United, meanwhile, finished sixth and are in a state of disarray having replaced Jose Mourinho with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer midway through the season.
As Pep Guardiola's men will hope to take the Champions League off Liverpool next season, United will be in the Europa League, and fans certainly saw the funny side of United's two biggest rivals having such impressive seasons.
The debate has already started between City and Liverpool fans to determine whether the treble success is better than winning the Champions League, but there was no doubting how City fans felt about United's troubles.
