Man City fans make same Emmanuel Adebayor comparison after Rodri winner vs Arsenal

Manchester City supporters have lauded Rodri for channelling his inner Emmanuel Adebayor against Arsenal.

With the clock ticking down in a high-octane Premier League encounter at the Emirates Stadium, the Spaniard hit deep into added time to complete a dramatic turnaround - and an 11th straight win for the champions.

Pep Guardiola and his star-studded team found themselves behind against the much-improved Gunners.

However, after responding through Riyad Mahrez and a VAR-induced penalty, City extended their healthy cushion at the summit over Liverpool and Chelsea.

That advantage currently stands at 11 points - although both of those clubs do have games in hand.

Not renowned for his goal-scoring, the impressive Rodri settled the scores in north London and proceeded to take his shirt off amid chaotic scenes - not to mention those comparisons with Adebayor when he netted against former side Arsenal in 2009 shortly after his controversial, direct transfer to the Etihad Stadium.

Here are a selection of comments from City supporters on social media platform Twitter;

@BLVCK_HAMMOND said: "After that Rodri celebration, he's already the best player in 2022."

@Gregill86 posted: "Haha, that Rodri celebration gave me Adebayor vibes."

@LeeBrom added: "Great to see Rodri channel his inner Adebayor. Paninis and lattes everywhere."

@loudasilva said: "Give him the freedom of Manchester and Abu Dhabi for that celebration."

@Lis2808 posted: "Absolutely loved the passion from Rodri."

@Takumi0801 added: "That was the celebration of the season. Rodri you are an absolute mad-man."
