Man City fans love Pep Guardiola’s show of faith in Eric Garcia and Taylor Harwood-Bellis vs Preston

Man City fans are delighted with Pep Guardiola's selection of Eric Garcia and Taylor Harwood-Bellis for the Carabao Cup clash against Preston North End tonight.

City will get their third successive League Cup defence underway on a wet and windy night at Deepdale against a Preston side who have been in great form so far this season.

They currently sit third in the Championship, just a point off top spot, having not lost at home all season so far.

They are a team in red hot form with nothing to lose so are likely to try and cause an upset and Guardiola has shown little complacency in his line-up.

Raheem Sterling, Bernado Silva, David Silva, Ilkay Gundogan, Gabriel Jesus and Joao Cancelo all start in what is a very strong City side but Guardiola has given a massive vote of confidence to young centre-back duo Garcia and Harwood-Bellis.

Garcia made his first Premier League appearance in the 8-0 thrashing of Watford and after starting three times in the League Cup last season has been given another chance in the side.

Whereas Harwood-Bellis is making his first appearance for the senior side after impressing while on the pre-season tour of Asia.

The 18 and 17-year-olds, respectively, have come in to give Fernandinho and Nicolas Otamendi a rest as they are the only fit senior centre-backs in the squad following injuries to Aymeric Laporte and John Stones.

If they impress against Preston, however, they could stake a claim to be involved more regularly and fans are loving that they are both playing together at the heart of defence.

You can see a selection of their reactions below:

Man City starting XI vs Preston: Bravo; Cancelo, Harwood-Bellis, Garcia, Angelino; Foden, Gundogan, Silva; Bernardo, Jesus, Sterling.

Substitutes: Carson, Mendy, Otamendi, Dionkou, Rodri, Mahrez, Bernabe.
