Man City fans just have one problem with exciting starting XI vs Dinamo Zagreb

Manchester City fans were pleased to see young defender Eric Garcia start against Dinamo Zagreb, but would have liked to see him partner Taylor Harwood-Bellis in Pep Guardiola's starting XI in the Champions League.

With John Stones injured and Fernandinho suspended, Guardiola called up Garcia from the academy for the final Champions League group game. City have already qualified as group winners, allowing Guardiola the freedom to rotate his side.

And rotate is exactly what Guardiola did, with eight changes from the side that lost to United in the Premier League at the weekend.

Claudio Bravo started over Ederson in goal, while Garcia and Nicolas Otamendi came in at the back, with Benjamin Mendy coming back in at left-back and Joao Cancelo replacing Kyle Walker on the right.

Phil Foden was a popular inclusion in midfield as he was given a rare start, while Ilkay Gundogan and Rodri joined him in the centre.

Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva were named out wide to give Raheem Sterling a deserved rest, while Gabriel Jesus continued up front.

The team selection was a popular one, but if fans had one complaint it was in defence, as fans called for Harwood-Bellis to have started instead of Otamendi. The young duo impressed in the Carabao Cup victory over Preston earlier this season.

The Champions League is another step up, of course, but supporters were slightly disappointed not to see how the pair responded on the big stage.

Man City starting XI vs Dinamo Zagreb: Bravo, Cancelo, Otamendi (C), E Garcia, Mendy, Rodrigo, Gundogan, Mahrez, Foden, Bernardo, Jesus

Substitutes: Ederson, Walker, Sterling, Zinchenko, Angelino, De Bruyne, Harwood-Bellis

This is how fans reacted to the team news:
