Man City fans identify unsung hero from Brighton win

Manchester City fans were keen to ensure central midfielder Rodri received recognition for his performance against Brighton, despite Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero stealing the headlines.

Aguero scored twice, while De Bruyne registered a goal and assist in the 4-0 win over Brighton, with David Silva also contributing two assists as City extended their lengthy unbeaten run.

City's midfield flair was key to the victory, with manager Pep Guardiola praising his side for their perfect completion of the pre-match game plan.

Central to that plan was Rodri, who replaced Ilkay Gundogan in the starting line-up and continued to show fans why he became the club's record signing in the summer.

Pep Guardiola gives Aymeric Laporte injury update

Rodri was strong at the base of midfield, particularly after defender Aymeric Laporte was substituted with Fernandinho having to replace him in defence.

And fans took to social media after the game to ensure Rodri got the praise he deserved despite not troubling the scoresheet.

With Laporte facing a period on the sidelines, some fans even suggested Spaniard Rodri could be used as a deputy centre-back at times if needed.

A level above.

Out of this world.

What a player.

Fantastic.

Shine on.

Another CB option.
