Man City fans hit back at Jamie Carragher over Nathan Ake comment

Manchester City fans hit back at Liverpool great Jamie Carragher after he aired his doubts over the club's move for Nathan Ake.

The 25-year-old is expected to join City after the Blues agreed a fee with Bournemouth for the Netherlands international following their relegation to the Championship last week.

Carragher, however, feels that having two left-footed centre-backs in Ake and Aymeric Laporte could create problems for Pep Guardiola.

Carragher explained on Twitter: "I like Nathan Ake & I think he will suit Man City, but with Laporte a guaranteed starter I’m not convinced two left footed centre backs works? I know right footed players play together but it never feels right the other way round to me! Left back or a Back 3."

City fans countered Carragher's view point by providing some strong responses.

City have struggled defensively this season following the departure of former captain Vincent Kompany and the injury issues that Laporte has suffered.

City were always highly likely to sign defenders this summer, with John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi facing uncertain futures at the club.
