Man City fans have interesting theory about new Nike mash-up kit

Manchester City's limited edition Nike celebration shirt was revealed on Monday morning - much to the disgust of the majority of Blues supporters.

The kit, which features a mash-up of nine City shirts from the club's six-year partnership with Nike, was modelled by Phil Foden, John Stones and Kevin De Bruyne in a post on the club's official Twitter account.

City's partnership with Nike will end at the end of the season, with Puma taking over as City's kit manufacturer from next campaign onwards.

The Blues penned a ten-year £650million contract with the German company in February - a deal that is the second biggest in the Premier League behind United's £750million agreement with adidas.

The £65million-a-year deal overtakes Arsenal’s £60million partnership with adidas and Chelsea’s Nike deal for the same amount.

City supporters on Twitter suggested the garish mash-up strip is Nike's way of getting revenge on the club for switching manufacturers.
