Man City fans have cheeky David Silva request if Premier League season is voided

Manchester City fans are taking to Twitter to ask David Silva to extend his stay at the club in order to receive the send-off he deserves from supporters.

Silva is set to leave the Etihad when his contract expires at the end of June, but with the season currently suspended there is no guarantee he will play in front of City fans again before he leaves.

Some reports say FIFA and UEFA are working to allow clubs to extend player contracts to finish the season if such a measure is needed. However, fans are fearful they will not be able to see Silva play again with games played behind-closed-doors an option said to be being explored.

If that is the case, fans have been asking Silva to stay on at City until next season so he has the opportunity to get a proper send-off for his services to the club. As is stands, Silva's last game in front of supporters was the FA Cup win at Sheffield Wednesday.

This is what fans have been saying:

One more year?

Just until the winter break

It makes sense

Sorry not sorry

Fingers crossed

It can't end like this

Last season, Vincent Kompany announced he was leaving the club after leading City to victory in the FA Cup final, and he later got to say goodbye to fans at the club's 'Fourmidables' victory parade, before he returned in September for a testimonial at the Etihad.
