Man City fans furious with VAR after David Silva denied a penalty vs Bournemouth

Manchester City fans were left fuming after VAR decided not to award David Silva a penalty after he was seemingly fouled in the penalty area against Bournemouth.

VAR made the headlines once again last week when Gabriel Jesus' late goal was chalked off by the use of technology after Aymeric Laporte was adjudged to have handled the ball in the build up. As a result, City drew the game meaning they dropped points in the Premier League for the first time since January.

During the fixture against Bournemouth, VAR was called in to question yet again. David Silva - who made his 400th appearance for City against the Cherries - weaved his way through a host of defenders in the penalty box before falling under contact from Jefferson Lerma.

Referee Andre Marriner waved away the Spaniard's claims which enraged manager Pep Guardiola on the touchline. Despite a check from VAR, which showed clear contact from the Bournemouth midfielder, the penalty wasn't awarded.

City fans took to social media to express their frustrations at the technology - again.
